The Man I Never Knew

HomelessStaring into his eyes I saw pain embedded in his past. Clothes tattered, face unshaven he seemed aghast. His body seemed to shake and tremble in winter’s unyielding fury. Of snow, wind and rain like a blizzard in Missouri.

His coat had frayed edges and pants Continue reading “The Man I Never Knew”

Our Hateful, Hopeful World….

riotThe world is a hateful place. We keep looking for counterfeit peace so we continually protest, host marches and coordinate rallies. Truth of the matter is there will never be peace among nations or among races for that matter. Never….How can I know that? You ask. I know because Continue reading “Our Hateful, Hopeful World….”

Take the Right Picture…..

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAMy husband and I had been home together for the last four days. We didn’t do much, just chores about the house and watched some TV. We only wanted to relax so Thursday and Friday was great, but Saturday we became a bit restless so we went out and saw a movie. On Sunday of that week, I decided it would be nice to get out of the house once again so I suggested we go to the beach. My husband wanted to avoid the crowds at our local beach and we drove to another one about an hour away in another city. Continue reading “Take the Right Picture…..”

No Blessing for YOU!

NoBlessingWhat happens when we pray for something and God doesn’t seem to respond? It’s an interesting question. Should we say that God is punishing us or He’s not listening to our heart’s desire? In reading Mark 11:24 (KJV), it says “What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them”. No convoluted message there. All we have to do is believe it and we’ll have it. If this is true, why are so many of us seemly in a blessing drought? Continue reading “No Blessing for YOU!”

Tradition, Ritual, Relationship – Can they Co-Exist?

Hollow traditions and rituals have left a salty taste in the mouth of true4-13-2012 PREACH worshipers. This could be due to the institutional church’s landscape drastically changing in the last fifteen years. Believers are confused, dazed and even more fearful than ever. There are various reasons this climate of uncertainty exists. Everything from misappropriated church funds to improperly trained clergy leaders are a few of the components that leave the faithful feeling more vulnerable than empowered. Our question now becomes, how are we to love God, demonstrate the compassion of Christ while at the same time meet one anothers needs? If there are so many in the body still hurting and despondent how do we set their feet on the path to total healing if we’re still struggling with the “rules” of Christianity? Continue reading “Tradition, Ritual, Relationship – Can they Co-Exist?”

Kingdom Ephiphany

israelWhile I was worshiping with family members recently the topic of Kingdom, God’s divine kingdom arose. I never used to think much about kingdom in the early days of my salvation. Like most people, I just believed if “we” could just get people to the point of repentance, God would do the rest. However, over the years as I matured in Christ I realized how I was completely missing the mark. It was never my job to “get” anyone or “convince” anyone to repent. Most believers are taught this principle that is leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the un-churched regarding Jesus.  In our ignorance, we just wind up ramming redemption down their throats! Jesus said if HE is lifted up, HE WOULD DRAW MEN! (John 12:32)  No amount of melodious music, fog lamps, praise leaders or dress down Sundays can do this. Now, with that being said, I was able to take a closer look at Continue reading “Kingdom Ephiphany”

Why Should We Bother Ourselves With Prayer?

I’ve always been fascinated by people who seem to have a hotline to God. What BlackMenI mean is, they pray and things happen. For a long time, I believed they had some “special” relationship with God. I used to think that they were somehow more powerful in things spiritual with heighted discerning abilities as well. I’d observe how some would scream their prayers; others would convulse while speaking tongues or just weep. While all of this can be a bit entertaining, as I matured I realized this doesn’t mean God is at their beck and call. The reality is, Continue reading “Why Should We Bother Ourselves With Prayer?”

Doomsday Predictions & YOU!

DoomsdayRecently, it has been in the news that December 21st 2012 is the END OF THE ENTIRE WORLD! Now, as foreboding as this my seem, I think we need to take a deeper look into how we’re responding to this news more than worry about whether that date is the END. Walk with me on this thought for a second. What if that was the date the world was ending. What would you do?  Continue reading “Doomsday Predictions & YOU!”

Are you the Bullseye of a Spiritual Attack?

The spiritual climate among believers is pretty much at an all time high. Every soldierprophetic person, ministry or book is pointing out that a tremendous move of God is about to take place. The book of revelation is more alive in our lifetime than ever before and even Hollywood is citing biblical references in movies. Our society is unraveling to the point that even the most faithful are backsliding as leaders are falling into sin.

One message that is clear is that Christ followers must keep their ear to the ground to hear what the spirit of God is speaking in terms of direction. We are all aware spiritual attacks occur, but how do we know we when we’re the bulls eye? Is there a way to know? Continue reading “Are you the Bullseye of a Spiritual Attack?”

Reflections of an Exiled Believer

I have for the last five years felt distanced from “the church” and many who propose to be a part of the conventional church. For years my journey has led me to houses of worship and to church leaders who seemed to have an aversion to either living holy or embracing me (a female) with any level of respect. This lack for love and nurturing is a trend that has infiltrated many congregations. The faithful are being shunned, ostracized and called witches to make room for worship styles that do not always exalt the Father. We know that in the last days we’ll face perilous times (2 Tim 3:1) but also we’ll encounter a falling away (2 Thess 2:3). While “the church” would like to believe this excludes them, this event is not isolated to the unbelieving sinner we’re often so quick to condemn. Sadly, it’s already commenced. The house church movement has grown not because people are not willing to submit to leadership, but because they have submitted to them and were wounded. They’ve found perverse leadership who routinely operate in unGodly fashion and evict themselves from accountability. They operate the church as if it were a corporation and under the guise of preaching the gospel, souls are lost. More emphasis has been given to protocol, traditions, sexism, racism, personal agendas and money which seems to be the ultimate god. Many of the exiled have been either invited to vacate fellowships or felt compelled to do so due to alienation or other form of intimidation. Regularly, the exiled are accused of “operating in witchcraft”.

Where is the compassion? Continue reading “Reflections of an Exiled Believer”
