The Heartbeat of God is YOU!

Obligations…..we all have some. We are overbooked with deadlines, over worked at our jobs, over looked by peers and overwhelmed with family activities. We wonder sometimes how to meet our commitments and eek out some time for ourselves, family and friends. How can we pay all the bills, meet the need of our loved ones and be there for everything else without compromising our own peace and tranquility? In these stressful days, we’ve seemed to have lost the art of relationship. We don’t take walks with our spouses like we used to or take the kids to the park as often as we should. Even digging into a great book in our leisure time has become a lost pleasure for most of us. We are so consumed with duties but empty on how to relate to our fellowman. When do we just slow down, to take an inventory to re-evaluate the importance of all we do, or lack thereof?

God knows that there are essential tasks that have to be completed to sustain our lives but our society seems to have a deficit when meeting our commitment to Him. We remember to pay debts but fail to give praise to the one who has provided employment. We care for our families but many times are too busy to worship the one who keeps them healthy. Why do we seek to be blessed, yet ignore the one who sheds an abundance of grace on us each day?

Our initial duty as children of God is to acknowledge Him in all we do. If we recognize the Lord in everything, we initiate direct contact with Him. Engaging Him means we trust His timing so that we can move strategically through life. He will show us how to prioritize the other aspects of our lives and have time to be refreshed in Him. He can show us what really matters and show us how idle tasks over time contribute to our spiritual detriment. God wants to be welcomed every day into our lives through prayer. It is then that He shows us where our focus should be in order to avoid being distracted. Distractions of any kind shifts our focus to carnal issues that are not relevant in advancing the Kingdom of God. It robs us of precious time that would be more wisely spent reaching out to our fellowman.

We must remind ourselves that this journey we call life is finite. We all have an expiration date and before our time comes; God has an agenda for each of us to fulfill. Our purpose is to impact the life of those around us with the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. While many may think this to be a time consuming burden, those who love God with reckless abandon count it an honor. They see it as a blessing to be called upon to serve the one and only God of the universe. They know their lives are not their own and has been purchased in blood. These are they who embrace every opportunity to show the world Jesus. They look for the chance in their everyday world to preach the gospel by living a life of holiness. They share the gospel in everyday casual conversations while standing in the checkout line or while waiting for the car to be serviced. Sharing the gospel is becoming a living breathing example of the Word of God in action so people can see love in us.

However, we’re living in a day when many Christians are overwhelmed with life. They have the thought that it’s just easier to allow a ministry leader or someone else to witness to the down trodden. What they are missing is this; WE are God’s heart beat! We are the ones who should carry the passion to see souls saved, people delivered and new converts discipled. We are god’s hands, feet and hugs in the earth.

I pray in this season you never fail to remember that the true heartbeat of God…….IS YOU!
